I will say that I am listening to the album "Chelsea Girl" by Nico for the first time and it is just beautiful. Highly recommended. No one comes here for music suggestions but I can't help myself.
I think you'd really love her later albums too, though Chelsea Girls is really hard tough to beat. They're dark and cabaret-ish in a Nick Cave sort of way. There's this one story Patti Smith tells--that I always imagine while listening to those albums--where she came across a homeless, drug-addled Nico on the streets of Berlin, carrying only her harmonium.
